The department of biochemistry in the institute functions under the head of Dr. S.V. Mythili , carrying out the daily routine analysis of patients' samples for regular and special tests.
The department conducts regular lecture classes for the postgraduate students of the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology and Government Ophthalmic Hospital .
Research work is also undertaken in the department and many papers have been published in leading national journals.
The department with its efficient technicians assists the postgraduates of the institute in their thesis projects by analysing the required samples and providing valuable inputs.
