Pathology

•  The department of pathology in RIOGOH was commenced exclusively for the institute in the year 1989, carrying out the daily routine analysis of patients' samples for regular and special tests.

•  The department conducts regular lecture classes, practical demonstrations including slide preparations for the postgraduate students of the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology and Government Ophthalmic Hospital .

•  Photography of specimens and photomicrography of slides using Trinocular Research Microscope fitted with Camera Attachment and CCTV Monitor.

•  The department receives biopsy specimens of lesions of eyelids, orbit, and intra-ocular masses , for histopathology / cytology. More than 5000 biopsies have been studied till date .

•  The department also contributes and helps in the upkeep of the museum by mounting rare specimens and help in preserving them.

•  Interesting Case-reports has been presented by the department at both the Ophthalmology and Pathology Conferences in national and international level .

•  The department assists the postgraduates of the institute in their thesis work or dissertation projects by providing valuable inputs.

•  The department participates actively in the clinical pathologic discussion at the monthly Clinical- Society meetings in the institute.
